Not a pilot, more on the maintenance side.

I stretched "operated" to mean that I was part of a crew that did engine runs. So technically I operated it, but I didn't fly it.

I once "flew" a Super Hercules (C-130J) although I wasn't really supposed to. Also flown a friend's helicopter a few times.

Longest was a motor boat. I forget exactly how long it was, but it was a decent sized boat.

I don't drive because it gives me terrible anxiety and I have horrendous depth perception.

I worked in a carton(box) factory as a sheeter - the first machine that takes 5-8k pound rolls of paper and cuts them down to size. Part of that job was using an ~8k lb truck to navigate a narrow factory with literally hundreds of workers and bring the rolls of paper. Due to the sheet magnitude keeping the rolls in a decent order relative to upcoming jobs was difficult. I'd often have to pickup said 5-8klb rolls from a stack upwards of 20 feet high.

It was fucking terrifying. And keep in mind my machine was, again, the first step. As in production couldn't go anywhere without my machine working fast

Oh, and these rolls had to then been placed in a very specific spot and way to be able to be loaded onto the machine.

Back breaking, horrible anxiety inducing work. For $18/ hour for a mega multi million dollar company.

Assuming your forks/grabber/whatever it's called was rear wheel steer, I would happily wager that you could reverse park a car much better than the average driver.

You might not have enjoyed it, but don't sell yourself short matey. It takes skill to do what you did and, whether or not you were comfortable doing so, you fucking did it.

Oh, no - it was legit cool as fuck. I actually loved coming in on 'non production' weekends where the goal was just to organize the rolls for the upcoming jobs. Without the added stress of picking, landing, loading, prepping the rolls ad infinitum, it was a super cool experience that I know not many can say they've experienced.
The thing really does have some pep, too. We generally use electric ones, but for major shifts they'd bring in the diesel. That thing is a hog

We used to use little electric forks around the hangar, they worked fine for piece parts, but we also had some big diesel fuckers when we needed assemblies moving. We had a massive Hyster diesel for the biggest jobs (a H18-20XD) which could probably lift all of the other forks by itself.

I never drove the forks, I used the vans instead, but I remember our brand new Transit Jumbo having its roof liner torn off when someone using the biggest fucker forgot how quick the empty forks move. Someone else later took that van to a drive-through McDos and smashed the flashers/beacons on the top.

No thanks necessary buddy. Logistics-type roles are thankless - always have been, always will be.

A train technically. Went to some park when I was young and there was a train that went like 3mph that kids could take turns being a conductor in and stop/start train. It has 2 carriages but I'm 99% sure they were non functioning and just for show.

Wow quite a few of you have experience others do not. For me I think my largest was a large diesel 4x4 here at work.

As someone with similar anxiety problems, this sounds like a living nightmare. Props, and also sorry you had to go through that.

I operated a bulldozer, ex's dad runs a landscaping company. Nothing too special, but it was very fun. All the power of a machine, but nothing to hit besides, you know, the landscape.
