It's just wild to me that OpenAI was apparently so convinced that no one would care that they didn't even try to obfuscate it. They just apparently straight up cannot prove they cloned her voice without permission.

In their blog post today they claim the voice is of a different actress who happens to sound a lot like Scarlett Johansen, but it's clear that they knew how similar it was and leaned into how cool it was that it's almost like a Her (2013) reference. So it's iffy but in bad taste anyway.

It's dumb regardless, but imagine trying this with a woman who sued Disney's army of lawyers.

We legit have phone calls impersonating the president of the USA. Friend of mine played a message he got from "Joe Biden" telling him not to vote this election for "safety reasons."

You can also impersonate most peoples voices and enact bank transfers if you know where they bank and their name(maybe birthday if the bank is moderately secure).

But, we won't reign in AI because it's WAY too profitable. So fuck everyone, be ready for a new age of bullshit plopped on our doorstep. For money.
