Wanted to see what the hype was about. First episode Im like "oh, I get it...some Got type story in a western setting, dialogue seems cool". Then I watched the rest of the episodes and Im like "wait..did this suddenly turned into a overdramatic soap opera?". Started so good, but quality takes a nosedive right out of the gate. What happened here?

I see the reviews for later seasons are much much better, though.

I really liked this show but I'm pretty sure they canceled it after season 5 so there will never be an ending.

My in-laws try to get me to watch it all the time. Pretty much everyone who has told me about it are either boomers, older gen x or the kind of rural Pennsylvanians that I have zero in common with and wouldn't otherwise take entertainment recommendations from.

It hasn't been cancelled but Kevin Costner is leaving the show, so it's future is uncertain.

They should be ok though, as long as they don't get rid of Beth and/or Rip.

it's cool for a while until you realize it's basically the same thing every episode

kevin costner makes some grand speech about how their way of life is dying and they have to protect it and/or talks to somebody from the 21st century about how they're a pussy
beth gets drunk and verbally berates a stranger or a child or her brother or basically literally anyone in a scene with her
the one son whose name I can't remember does something stupid
the other son is just there, idk
there's some scenes of people riding horses

Its a cowboy soap opera in the same vein that OZ was a prison soap opera

the storylines get ridiculous but its still a fun watch

They did cancel it. There was supposed to be a sequel though, starring Matthew McConaughey.

I always assumed it was a Boomer-ass show

LMAO. Literally this. The Kelcee son acts sooo stupid every episode. But its fun overall. Finishing season 1 so Im gonna stick with it since the next seasons seem to have much better reviews.

Also yeah, I can see it being a hit with more conservative types. Hopefully they're aware that the main characters are also villains. In a sons of anarchy kind of way.

Lol, I doubt it

The co-creator/writer is Taylor Sheridan, who also did the Sicario movies, Hell or High Water, and Wind River. He does a lot of modern westerns. It's cool if that's not your thing, but it's pretty fucking stupid and ignorant to act like you have to be a boomer or conservative to enjoy this.

Dont think I said that. Just that the themes and what its about easily resonates with more conservative audiences.

How yellow was the stone, though? Would you say it was more of a mustard color or the bright yellow sun color we see from Earth?

It's a cowboy soap opera but it has shooting to keep um entertained
