There was never any thing romantic between them, people just like that shipping because Luna is one of the best characters.

But ending up with his best friend's sister is just kind of boring, so any thing is better than that.

Even for a guy with no game, the romance was written horribly.

Like, the whole Yule Ball bit was asinine. The dude is world famous, wealthy, one of the four Champions, won the first task in a spectacular manner, a cup-winning Quidditch star, and is well known for having stopped Quirrell AND ending the Chamber of Secrets nonsense in years past, and by-and-large has a reputation for being pretty nice to everyone... and you're telling me THAT GUY doesn't have girls throwing themselves at him to be his date? For fucks sake, the movie has the girls straight up stink-eyeing him just for looking at them. Like, what?
