No way. It may not be as good as some of the earlier ones but it's still a solid Resident Evil game.

Especially compared to stuff like Dead Aim, Umbrella Chronicles (which I had fun with with buddies) or Gaiden.

0 and Code Veronica would both benefit from remakes.

It's weaker than most of the other mainline RE games but that's a good reason to remake it. It's a chance to improve on it.

No, it's the real RE3. It was literally intended to be called RE3, but Sony shenanigans wanted a 'full trilogy' of numbered RE titles on the PS1, so Nemesis got the number to go with its subtitle, whereas Code Veronica just had the subtitle.

And it advances the plot (what plot RE can really be said to have) more than Nemesis did. Nemesis said 'hey Jill escaped Raccoon City around the same time Claire and Leon did, and the city got nuked'. Code Veronica gives us a lot more information on Umbrella and its origins, brings back dumbshit Wesker, and actually picks the story up further along down the line than Nemesis' pseudo-interquel ass. All things more important than knowing a character left town, and a town we'll never go to again is gone--and for having one of its own cities nuked by its own government, the event has been basically an afterthought in the series since. One of the bad guys in one of the movies was kinda mad about it?

racoon city gets blown up in RE3 which has repercussions reaching across the entire series

I remember my friend got stuck on the airplane nemesis fight because he didn't have the proper grenade ammo or something to kill it.

That's why it deserves a remake. I liked it overall, but it was suffering for the tech at the time. Deserves a second chance.

Underrated RE game.

Damn I need to rewatch a 100% walkthrough soon again.

Resident Evil 4-8 don't take place in Racoon City. That's about it.

I don't think they would've anyway. CV and Survivor already had us going elsewheres; I think at that point players were a bit tired of Raccoon City. Maybe something like RE8 or a potential RE9 would've as a big "Whoa, back to where it all began" thing after a prolonged absence.

I'm claiming it could have just as well not happened and nothing much would've changed. So again, say it doesn't--what changes? A villain in one of the movies needs a different motivation, and oh yeah they need a slightly different reason to take out Benford.

So it's had such far-reaching implications, made such gigantic waves, that its effects might need a 5-minute rewrite.

And if your entire argument that RE3 deserves to be RE3 because of something that happens in the last 30 seconds of the game, I don't know what to tell you. Umbrella's downfall was a way bigger deal and they were happy sweeping that under the rug in the opening crawl of RE4. They could have just as easily have had Leon add "they even had to nuke the city to contain the outbreak" and not even made the game.

Still waiting to know what really changes if RC doesn't get nuked. What RE: Nemesis really contributes to the lore at large.

Its clearly the best. Some good variety of enemies, Chris and Claire playable. A lot better length than the other games. Can actually be difficult, knife is OP. Battle mode you can play as wesker. Puzzles are cool too

RE4 is the game that dumped all that in the trash

No, RE4 did its own plot. The lore still exists. It still happened. Wiping Code Veronica from existence causes all that lore to never happen. Whereas (for like the fourth time), wiping RE: Nemesis causes us to lose what?

You could get rid of 5 and not really miss anything. The only thing in 5 that really matters is Wesker and the same fucking thing happens in CV just less cartoony.

It feels like the Sonic CD of classic RE, tbh.

The knife was fun to use. Cut up zombies real good due to it hitting multiple times with each swipe.

The less said about Steve the better though.

i actually liked steve

i replayed it last year. steve sucks and its got maybe 2-3 specific questionable design choices at moments, but its fine. not top tier, but sure as hell not bottom.

He stopped me from solving a puzzle due to stealing the golden lugers. He can go straight to video game hell.

The plot of Code Veronica and what it does for the overall story is the worst thing to happen to the series. Superpower action shit. Even resident evil 6 was a better horror game. Code Veronica is embarrassing.

I think the biggest issue people have with it is that you can get fucked over by playing blind. There are points in the game where you swap between Chris and Claire and it isn't telegraphed when this will happen. Both of them can access the item box, but they can't access each other's inventory. So if you know Claire is about to fight a boss, you might load her up with your best weapons and then beating the boss immediately transitions into Chris for like eight hours and you just don't have those weapons.

It also has a huge transition where you go from an island base to an Arctic one which also locks you out of exploring or grabbing anything you might have missed on the island. This one is pretty telegraphed though, so it's not too bad.

The most obnoxious example of this issue is probably the security box. There's a room in the early game which only unlocks if you place your stuff in a box beside it. This box is not an item box and only Claire accesses it. So if you leave something in it - say a fire extinguisher you'll later need to get the magnum - and don't go out of your way to get it back, you just lose that item forever.

For this reason, CV is probably the easiest RE game to soft lock yourself in.

None of that stuff really matters really. You can lock yourself out of guns but you still have the knife. And the knife literally melts every boss
