What happens when you season a pan is that the oil hardens and forms a sort of non stick coating that won't come off unless you use a strong cleaning agent like lye or scrub too hard. As long as you use a moderate amount of soap and don't scrub too hard with it, you shouldn't have to worry about removing the seasoning. Also after the pan dries it's a good idea to rub a little cooking oil on it with a paper towel before putting it away. --- "It's Dyin' time." Usually coat it in a seasoning agent (iirc for some reason I think margarine is preferred) and then bake the pan. Occasionally you'll need to reseason. It's not a permanent thing.
