Just started when XBOX got it, just beat the MSQ of Shadowbringers

Its been a ride... kind of regret not playing this sooner

I've been enjoying the story a lot so far, though imo it starts reeeeally slow, picks up in the first DLC a lot and the rest so far have been good

All caught up here and waiting on the Dawntrail release. Not a raider but I've sunk a lot of time into the game.

I started in Shadowbringers and from what I've heard about how it was before that, absolutely do not regret starting it these days. It was... much rougher before, what with TP limiting physical moves and stance dancing.

Yeah, got into it a few years ago. My gf got into it, and I had a job with barely any workload, and it was the best possible time to get into an MMO.

I haven't played in nearly a year. I'm a couple of patches behind, and I'll start again some time before Dawntrail comes out.

No, I played about an hour and uninstalled that game is awful.

I got to Operation Archon in 2021 and just stopped there for some reason

The one thing I can say that FFXIV traditionally has over WoW is that FFXIV doesn't care if you take breaks. It's typically relatively easy to catch up to wherever things are. With the exception of starting fresh that is (since there's so much MSQ and it is all required).

I don't know if WoW is still like that, but it used to be that if you took a break, you'd fall behind on whatever the current expansion had for a grind and be held back from current content, with the risk of missing out on it entirely.

But mood wise, XIV is kind of... anime. If that's not your jam, you won't match up as well on how it handles a lot of the characters and some of the events.

air quotes on stance dancing. if you played a tank at the time, using your tank stance was worthless after like, the first two GCDs. you'd never go back. you'd mitigate some other way.

if you played a healer it was just a 'yes i can deal damage too' toggle in the form of cleric stance. which as you may have guessed involved no dancing and instead had a cooldown attached to it.

also TP was asinine and they had to give certain classes abilities to restore it. warrior had one and so did ninja, so ninjas could feed warriors more TP while they spammed their one-button rotation of overpower. there have been a handful of bad idea bandaids to the game design.

On a break until Dawntrail. Shadowbringers is amazing and Endwalker is right up there with it (though I think more people like Shadowbringers a bit more).

Would highly recommend FF14 over WoW

I'm working on getting all jobs to max level before Dawntrail, I think of the normal combat jobs I have 11 at 90 and the remaining 8 are currently at 80-82. Crafters and blue mage are all at current max.

I have played it, but I do not. I did not find the game to be very enjoyable. As a social thing, it was pretty decent.

Juggling it with DQX. Waiting for Dawntrail at this point, occasionally popping in to progress on the Yo-Kai Watch weapons I ignored working on last time the event was up.

I played it and loved the story, made it about halfway through heavensward when the grind burnout hit. I'm gonna go back to it someday sooner or later, but WoW has been keeping my attention very well lately.
