Just got my first ticket, ever.

I got pulled over for doing 52 in a 45. I just happened to be the last vehicle in the group so I was the one that got pulled over. Not even a warning, just handed me a ticket for $132.

Last time I got pulled over was 12 years ago for 65 in a 55 and I got a warning for that.

Feels bad fam, I'm basically working today just to pay this off

Wow, that's bs.
Definitely go to court for it. Hopefully the judge throws it out or reduces it, but even if not they might at least let you pay it w/o it going on your record, b/c speeding tickets can increase your insurance premiums, which will end up costing way more than $132

Yet another reason I guess dash cams are necessary. Could show up to court showing you were going the same speed as the rest of the traffic.

I think the "month" can extend a day or 2 into the next one for the purposes of reaching the quota. I don't know, just what I've heard.

In Ohio you have to go to Mayor's Court twice to fight a ticket and pay $100+ in non-refundable fees. The cop will be there.

If you get a warning, how long does it stay in their system? Can they just easily see how many warnings you've ever had?

I've always been lucky, only ever gotten 3 tickets in my life and none were moving violations. But I've received warnings like 3 other times lol. The last time I got so lucky.

"You know why I pulled you over?"
"I was speeding a little."
"Ok well I got you going 58 in a 35 construction zone."
"Reeeally? I thought it was only 35 while construction was active."
"No. How's your driving history?"
"Good so far heh."
"Welp here's your warning."
"K thx :)"

The time before that I was stopped going 70 in a 50, just a warning. But I dunno how fast you have to be going before you get just straight up arrested? So when the officer was coming to give me my documents back I heard on his walkie "search the vehicle". My heart sank and only a second later he arrived at my window saying, "just a warning, slow it down." I thought that walkie chatter was about me and I was about to be asked to step out of the vehicle please.

At least I wasn't special, two more people got pulled over at the same spot. As soon as one trooper got somebody, another pulled into his spot. It was like a line of taxis waiting at an airport.

Speed limits are speed limits. Deserved.

Except that just stating a speed limit is a terrible way to encourage vehicles to go at desired speeds. If you don't want cars going at highway speeds, roads shouldn't be designed like highways

I got one of these too a year or two ago. Going 50 on a 40 I believe, where literally everybody else does it. Outright gave me a ticket instead of a warning, but I went to the courthouse to pay it and was told that the officer didn't even turn in the ticket so I didn't have to pay it. Got lucky I guess.

This is a myth. By law, you follow the speed limit, not the flow of traffic, if said flow of traffic is going faster than the speed limit. Thus, this wouldn't really refute anything if they actually caught you speeding.

Fighting speeding tickets is worth it, regardless, because the cop usually doesn't even show, but "flow of traffic" doesn't work as an excuse.

Didn't apologize or anything and made fun of me for mumbling. Still remember and hate that fat fuck.

I always set my cruise control 4 over the limit. So Ill go 69 in a 65 and 59 in a 55. Its an unwritten rule where I live they will let up to 5 over go but anything beyond that you risk a ticket. Id be bummed if I got one for 7 over, but Id also know I was at fault.

ALWAYS plead not guilty to ANY moving violation ticket that didn't involve an accident or a DWI/DUI.

Most times they will get bargained to a non-moving violation. Usually something like an "unsafe stop on the shoulder".

Either that, or if you fight it further, there's a good chance the officer doesn't show, and it gets thrown out.

I got trapped by a cop waiting in a new 25mph zone about a year ago. For the longest time it was a 45mph zone but they added a roughly 100ft 25mph zone in the middle of it which was total horseshit lol

Instead of giving me a ticket for speeding, he gave me a ticket for "obstructing traffic". Ironic because I was only obstructing traffic (not that it was even a busy road) because he stopped me lmao but I mean, no points and a cheaper ticket... It's just funny when you think of it that way.
