We can see from some of the regular game boards that isnt working, and unlike CE theres no real way to lock out more problematic user (some of whom are regulars on those boards) outside active engagement from moderators. Which is a problem because most users (especially newcomers) wont mark if they dont believe anything will be done.

I've known you for a while, and I know you're capable of admitting fault. Your actions were a catalyst that led to the formation of that unhinged group. Can you take responsibility for that?

If someone leaves the parking break unlocked when they park their car on a hill and it rolls backwards and kills someone, that person is still deadand the driver doesnt even get arrested. People actually have sympathy for that personand that upsets the people who are hurt by his negligence.

In comparison, if say the driver had a personal vendetta against this person and purposely drives over them, he goes to prision forever. Then the people affected by this persons action can rage against him without any conflicting feelings. I

I think in terms of the Reddit shenanigans as it relates to me the second option is just easier. Its what people want. Someone to rage at, without any nuance.

I get that. Its annoying, but Ive been taking it for the most part. I get it. I do.

This is really all I ever talk about. This and incels, but thats related to user experience & acquisition strategy.

The sex board has been listening me blame incels for the demise of GameFaqs for years. A bunch of them got sick of it and put me on ignore. I dont blame them. I recommend doing it if this type of discussion isnt your cup of tea.

Well, I mean, I wanted CE quarantined. I wanted political discussion axed. I honestly believe those things improve the site. I support damn near everything Fandom has done and have years of history showing that Ive always been this way.

The board was created by me initially just to get second opinions on moderations, but I eventually used it as a blog of sorts to preach corporate reform.

Those other folks had malicious intent. They wanted to harass and hurt people. They wanted to destroy this platform for the purposes of harassing people they dislike.

They spammed Fandom, and made their jobs harder and then harassed an employee publicly when they didnt get their way.

To me thats true malicious intent. Its intent with the purpose to harm.

Ive seen you attempt to deflect criticism on what happened seemed on a subreddit. In one topic you were pushed to admitting you gave it away to this Tails person and only regain control in order to clean it up, and another you act like it was an issue where you were just too hands off until the mass marking by another party forced you to act.

The irony of Stero insisting that all the "different" people should've been kicked out to make the "normal" people more comfortable

While not seeing which side of the fence constantly bringing up incels would have him standing at.

For someone who said the things he said about neurodivergent people, you don't get that you would be the one getting the side eye in a room.

In the feedback (after it was already quarantined) you seem oddly insistent on bringing up stuff (which some of the other users were pointing out you were misrepresenting) that would have resulted in its removal altogether. Even if you tried to argue against having malicious intent you definitely seem to have ulterior motives.

He's apologized and acknowledged that he has responsibility in giving those psychos a platform. I can't speak for the Fandom shilling, but I think it would be more reasonable to block him than to constantly throw his mistakes in his face. He's not going to stop soapboxing about improving the site or complaining about incels. Believe me, I know.

Two separate situations

1. Summer 2023 I offload it to tails would later become the deathmatch crew with the basic message of screw it, you can have it, leave me alone, only to come back a month later after I see just how bad it got (became what Deathmatch would become) so I cleaned it up. Made rules. Moderated. Promoted new mods. Told Tails to stand down, etc
2. Late 2023 the place had devolved into deathmatch again. So much marked messages I decided to make a harder stand cleaning it up. I did, and banned people. Really turned it around. Then tried to offload it to someone who would actually maintain it correctly. Tried to give it to @DoesntMatter actually.

The fall out of that was Tails used a Reddit loophole of being a senior mod from the first time I stepped down to mod me, and turn it back into deathmatch 2.0. then I eventually got it back months later, and just shut it down.

That doesnt answer it for me. No new users to the site cant access CE until they have 50 karma. The idea that a potential new user would be out off by a board they cant access for almost two months just doesnt add up. Good try though.

It has absolutely nothing to do with this topic, and I dont even know the full scope of what they are talking about. It spans from a discord conversation where someone posted screenshots of something I said on Reddit, and I got booted from the server before I could even respond to it.

They obviously continued the conversation amongst themselves, but Im not even privy to that conversation, so I dont even know how to respond because I dont know what their consensus or thoughts and views on my Reddit comments even were.

Ill gladly continue the conversation on discord. I wanted to. I went to CPains server to continue it, but the mods told me not too. Then muted me so I couldnt. But Ill gladly head there right now and have that convo.

Regardless its not appropriate for this topic or probably GameFaqs in general. Its admittedly controversial among this audience and would just result in a dumpster fire.

I mean of course. I admittedly am probably ignorant and totally incorrect in my opinion.

I certainly was abrasive in the way I worded my comments and there is an origin story to why I posted what I did that relates back to something that coincided with my real life.

Id like to hear other peoples take on it, see it from there perspective, and expand my own understanding through that experience.

But its just not a conversation for this platform.

That's incredibly dumb. People who aren't clinically trained absolutely can and should be able to discuss their mental health issues here. Just because you can't control yourself to not say shitty things doesn't mean everyone else should be punished.

To follow up on that Im not some infallible person. Im just as flawed as everyone else on this forum, I am no better than any other person who posts here. That was always a fundamental difference between me and those deathmatch people who do think that I battled them on that point a lot during my war of 2024 against them.

Like, Im obviously a mess of a human, fall from the pillar of normal Ive been here long enough for this community to understand that.

Im not saint by any means, there is plenty to criticize me for. But it all comes with nuance because I have a twenty year posting history that clearly shows Im not some bigoted political trollIm just a corporate shill, toxic masculine meathead, that is generally abrasive/insensitive in my opinions, but also generally enjoys GameFaqs and wants it still be here in 20 more years.

Okay this something as an aside I want to ask. People keep bringing up nuance when discussing bigotry.

Should parents or school staff just not discipline kids who do far less worse than bigotry? You like mouthing off (without say profanity) or having a mess pile in their room. Nothing unsanitary, just some toys organized unsightly?

I mean kids don't necessarily do mischievous things to be bad after all.

Also long timers have absolutely turned bigoted in the past. Few people are exactly the same person they were 20 years ago. Most people change for the better, others... not so much.

I used to be far more argumentative and aggressive, for example.

FYI Sterolizer, the other posters are absolutely correct in that Gamefaqs' post-2010 decline is primarily due to the decline of message boards as a medium iin favor of social media. The late implementation of inlined images probably didn't help, but I doubt it had a significant effect in the long run. Overall, Gamefaqs has performed incredibly well-- probably within the top 1% range compared to other message boards-- in all likelihood that is almost entirely due to the FAQs and the game/system pages keeping it afloat. I don't think anyone disagrees that an iphone app would help a little bit.

As has been pointed out, and as everyone knows, younger generations have very different tastes than the older ones. As you yourself said, let's plays and video guides are the big thing with younger generations. Hell, Zoomers don't even like Twitter, Youtube, or Facebook anymore, they like TikTok and Instagram. I doubt that there is anything which can change this; it's akin to brainstorming attempts to bring millennials back to cable news, talk radio, print media, and the weather channel. Okay, yes, there are differences (with the younger generations it's more of a personal taste and iphone compatibility vs obsolescence in the case of millennials. More than half of the remaining advantage of newspapers is their utility after you are done reading them.)

FYI, I totally get that this is a hobby and obsession for you. No judgement from me there, I have obsessions as well.
