with housing prices going crazy and rent also being crazy high, a lot of people (myself included) are considering things like tiny homes, mobile homes, prefabs, etc.

but it seems like a ton of these communities are only for 55+ year olds.
why is that? I can understand it from a "old people don't wanna do yardwork, the mobile home park takes care of that as part of a lot fee"

but what else? maybe they don't want kids around? couldn't they just say "no kids" and allow childless individuals and couples move in?

Correct.

They also view anyone under 35 as a kid.

Its not just mobile homes there are plenty of condo and townhome communities that are 55+. Its quite common and yeah its mostly for a calmer lifestyle, quieter, less chaotic. Its just a more mature and peaceful community.

I know several people that are under 40 that live in trailers. Maybe you should broaden your circle and befriend more poors

I thought mobile home parks are bad because while you own the home you dont own the land it is on. So the actually land owners can raise rents to ridiculous amounts and you are SOL since mobile homes arent actually mobile.

they been doing that lately... seniors only get so much per month (monthly income doesn't go up as fast as the rent does).

some have gotten priced out and had to move.

While true at the end of the day the majority of the time lot rent isnt all that different than paying property taxes on your home which can also be raised quite a bit at any time too.

When I turn 55 I would love to not have anyone younger than me living nearby lol. Sounds peaceful.

I lived in a trailer park after my parents got divorced and there were tons of kids. All evil little bastards. I don't think I've personally seen one exclusively for old people.
