For whatever it's worth, the political, reform-minded, and more progressive (progressive compared to terrorism... I guess...) arm of hamas has gone on record saying that their charter is a historical artifact and no longer a policy position.

Now, believing that is a matter of being able to decide if you can separate hamas terrorists and hamas politicians into two separate categories.

But it has been a public policy statement from the political wing of hamas that they'd accept '67 borders, even if they wouldn't recognize Israel proper. The fact that the political wing of hamas would accept borders at all implies that Israel wouldn't be wiped off the map. (I don't hold out faith that the terrorist wing of hamas would accept that, but they're not in the habit of releasing official policy statements or press releases like you or I would expect.)

If it's vile people saying vile things, I'll remind you that A) they're within their constitutional right to do so, and B) that same kind of rhetoric is rarely being met with police force when it's being spewed by other groups.
