Catching up on season 12 now. There's a scene about Richard Lewis leaving Larry in his will, and asking for him to do vice versa, and then they were arguing on who would die first and betting on who would outlive the other. For that to come up so soon after his passing is sad.

I mean yeah, Richard Lewis has basically looked like a phantasm in the past few seasons, but this time the jokes they make finally stuck.

Gotta say I'm surprised they kept that annoying old woman for this season with Larry, think she's played by tracy ulman. I only know her as the name of the show that first featured The Simpsons.

Saw it when it aired originally and that epsiode was actually aired literally just before he passed away. I'm talking 1-2 weeks or so, so it was more like an omen/jinx. Though yeah, now that I think about it, since I didn't see the episode afterwards. It's pretty weird.

You mean Susie? She's played by Susie Essman.

No. Hes talking about Tracy Ullman, who was playing the recovering alcoholic that was dating Larry. He faked an illness to get her to break up with him.

Also I just started so no spoilers but it would be hilarious if Larry David, defiant to the end, has Curb end the same way that Seinfeld ends with him going to prison, in a show of insistence that yes, the Seinfeld finale is good (which is a common running joke in the show)

The Irma plot line in the previous season was Larry at his most horrible. It was fantastic tv. I also don't know why they didn't just ditch her between seasons though. She adds nothing to this one.

great season, it's not my favorite of the series (that goes to a mid-season like 4-8 or something, I'd have to look), but it was still really solid.
I wish that they would've said something about Super Dave's passing rather than the plotline in season 9 or 10 about how he's out of town, and Vince Vaughn is his nephew or something. Vince was fine, but still wish they would've at least done a Funkhouser funeral or something, maybe a throwback joke about when Super Dave's parents died in season 1-2 and he said he was an orphan despite being in his 60s (cus I think Super Dave's character had a kid in the show, I could be wrong)

but yeah, definitely a 9/10 season. Irma's the worst character in the show lol (I think it works, as a weird brick wall scenario), I think Tracy Ulman is pretty funny but not as Irma. Like Irma as a character? Unfunny. The situations surrounding Irma? funny.
Same with Maria Sofia, she was soooo cringe that it was actually really impressive.

Season 12 Episode 4: Disgruntled.

Spartacus endings always make me chuckle. How many times is the Country Club owner Takahashi gonna threaten to kick Larry out, and didn't he already not kick him out because Larry saw that he was having an affair with a married woman who had a baby with him and was pretending to her husband that it's his?

I mostly liked this episode. I don't know how I feel about them showing that the therapist is being unethical and disclosing patient's information to others even her own husband. But more importantly isn't that... didn't that actress already guest star in another episode? I'll need to find it but wasn't she the wife of an inventor of a car periscope that Larry and Jeff were gonna invest in?

Season 12 Episode 5: Fish stuck.

Lol I know it's a running theme that Larry is always wrong (except for maybe 2 cases/scenarios) but obsessed about a fish? It's such a weird thing to harp on, but perhaps it makes sense for a super old, retired, rich dude with literally nothing to do all day to focus on even the most minute weird things.

Anyway took half the season but they finally got rid of Irma. Doesn't seem like Larry to stick with a relationship because he feels bad, I had to reskim season 11 to see if maybe she was blackmailing him to stay (which would make more sense in character and in universe) but I couldn't find anything

I guess they knew Richard didn't have enough time left. I'm glad he got to be in the final season and he was great in it. Seems like he and Larry have been best friends for a long time. Larry's quote about Richard's passing is sadly sweet.

Richard and I were born three days apart in the same hospital and for most of my life hes been like a brother to me. He had that rare combination of being the funniest person and also the sweetest. But today he made me sob and for that, Ill never forgive him.

Anyone, to not be totally morbid, season 12 was pretty good (pretty pretty pretty good) and while not the best, was a fine final season. I'll save some other comments for when you're done because I don't want to spoil anything.

Season 12 Episode 6: The Gettysburg Address

Larry parodies the Lincoln speech to get Lori Loughlin into the golfing club after she became a social pariah. This episode made me google to see if Lori Loughlin was in jail/ever sent to jail. Dark but funny episode, she was great in it and very self-aware. The college admissions bribery scandal was so huge that even others like Felicity Huffman got outed.

The rest of the episode was alright too. The Sienna Miller eating food while acting in every scene thing reminded me of a decades old Cracked article I once read about how Brad Pitt always seems to be eating something in his movies like Ocean's eleven or even Fight Club, and a joke about how this was done to make him seem "approachable" since he's otherwise so handsome he's off-putting.

Season 12 Episode 7: The Dream Scheme

The idea of Susie being nice enough to not bring Jeff with her on a plane just because of a nightmare is surprising in and of itself.

I guess last minute planes don't have business class seats? These people are millionaires, if not even millionaires can avoid being stuck in economy what chance do the rest of us have

I remember that actress who's with Larry! She's from Smart Guy!

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GJG78_wWQAAfC6-.jpg

Always liked her, Smart Guy was a show I used to watch a lot as a kid. Total blast from the past.

Season 12 Episode 8: The Colostomy Bag

Conan Obrien was in this episode! Was hoping to see more of him, I like the guy's show.

The lawyer resisting the "I like it/I want it" gambit was the highlight of the episode. It's a joke that was even on Seinfeld 30 years ago (Jerry and that "space pen" which I just googled to see if still exists/still a thing)

Heh one of the many reasons why I'd never buy a used car is exactly what happened in this episode, if the former owner being a smoker who completely stunk up the car. In real life the smell is unbearable.

A mock trial though makes me think the show might really end the way I joked about... not that they haven't been foreshadowing it and throwing jokes about the Seinfeld finale every chance they can (which are always hilarious especially Larry's reaction to the subtle diss)

Season 12 Episode 9: Ken-Kendra

Larry used to hook up with a person who became trans. They revealed that Larry had a trick to avoid cuddling which gets him in hot water with his ex-wife who left him like 15 years ago.

This episode struck a chord with me when Larry got covid and said "I avoided it for so long I thought I was special, now I'm just like everybody else boohoo" because I felt that exact same way lol.

Season 12 Episode 10: No Lessons Learned

No they fucking didn't.

They really redid the Seinfeld finale. And the worst part is, I ended up liking it. That ending was everything. Went from rolling my eyes to grinning and going "okay, that's kind of a nice twist"

I still like season 9 better, where they had the fatwa dude interviewing all the characters Larry had interacted with and seeing it from Larry's point of view. That was a much more hilarious take on the Seinfeld finale. Navid Negabahn is a fantastic actor and I loved seeing him in Curb and on Legion.

I still rewatch Michael J Fox's scene to crack up every now and again. Love him so much.

I'm getting the weirdest Dijavu. Did this already happen before, did someone make a topic about this or post the ending? Because I had this insane feeling of de ja vu where I remember seeing this scenario of Larry and the gang on a plane arguing after jerry springs him out of jail. It's so weird I don't know why I'm feeling this way.
