Not sure how exactly this would go? Honey-cupcake, vanilla buttercream frosting with a sea salt caramel drizzle? I will be making chocolate cupcakes with peanut butter frosting as well, but I plan to make a second flavor. I dont feel like spending the big money on fruit to make a fruit-flavored cupcake.

Caramel goes great with either banana or carrot. Personally, I'd use the honey for the cake and then pair it with the salted caramel buttercream.

Anyway, these are the flavors I found that go well with caramel:

Pumpkin, Sweet Potato, Yams, Butternut Squash
Ginger
Orange (as in Crepe Suzette)
Lemon
Apples
Peach
Apricot
Pears
Pineapple
Blackberry
Cornbread, Popped Corn
Chocolate (Chocolate + Caramel = Fudge)
Coffee (Caramel Macchiato)
White Chocolate
Hazelnut (Hazelnut Praline), Almond (Almond Rocca Praline), Pecan (New Orleans Praline)
Peanut (Peanut Brittle - I got the flavor by mixing caramel with peanut butter)
Pistachio
Coconut
Oatmeal
Rum
Bourbon Whiskey
