Feels gross but kinda makes sense. Not much different to a key. It's just the key is your finger.

Encryption is a "foregone conclusion?" I don't quite understand how that works.

It feels deeply weird, in a day and age where we understand how much of a person's life is in their phone, why it's not counted as a closed container in the same way a briefcase with a combination or laptop with encryption would be.

When the article talks about how much stuff is in a box that can make it identifiable as a standard against self-incrimination... how is that not the definition of a phone in 2024?

This is why you shut down the phone before you speak with cops. You need to use the pass code at least once before biometrics work after a shut down, at least on modern Android, I'm not sure if that's the case on iOS.

Pattern is superior than PIN.
I even set my PINs on some pattern.

How do you record them if you turn your phone off? Second phone?

(No, really. How do you record an interaction if you need to protect your data and documents on the device you're recording, if they can take it and make you open it [maybe to delete their interaction with you]?)
