visiting family for a few weeks and my mom is still a moth to the flame when it comes to tv

she could be in the middle of gardening and if the tv isnt on shell continue for hours. As soon as she hears it its straight to the couch.

My mom used to add "-hole" to random words. And how I and my brother do it.

For example, just the other day I said "I'm going to work-hole" and I was on the phone with my brother and his gf in the background. She was floored when she learned he didn't just make that up.

Everyone takes their shoes off in the house

Whenever me and my father learn something that makes us go "oh" we always drag it out for like 5 seconds at least.

I also realized that the face we make when we're like "do you actually expect me to believe this dumb shit you're saying" is identical.

I share weird idiosyncracies with my family and I don't know where I picked it up. Like my brother and I always buy things in pairs - could be cereal, toothpaste, etc. I didn't know he did it until I went shopping with his wife one time and she was like "your brother does the same thing".

Also we haven't seen each other in several years and we both haven't really been to our (well, more like my since he was already almost out of high school when we moved) hometown. Our dad took us very rarely to a coffee shop in another town. For some reason even though I had only been there like twice that I could recall, I felt like I wanted to go there again the last time I was up here. My brother was here recently and he also stopped at the coffee shop. It's just weird, there are tons of other cafes in the area and places to go but for some reason we felt an attraction to that one stupid cafe lol.

I don't know why my parents think it's cool to just talk to sleeping people. Through my childhood and with each other. Like, yes, I hear you, but I'm sleeping, leave me alone unless there's an emergency.

Many small, bizarre idiosyncrasies with my mother. For example one is not allowing her dog to go in the garden during the late evening, as she's worried someone will try to kidnap it (even though she lives in a super safe area).

I don't know why my parents think it's cool to just talk to sleeping people. Through my childhood and with each other. Like, yes, I hear you, but I'm sleeping, leave me alone unless there's an emergency.

My mom used to do that all the time. And it was always annoying in the sense that she'd then bring up later how we talked about X, which i have no memory of cause i was half asleep, and went back to sleep afterwards

My mom gets easily sidetracked telling a story or gets hung up on remembering a person's name or a road name etc that isn't important to the story at all cause I don't them/ the place.

My brother used to ass "like mad" to a lot of sentences. I know I tend to mouth the words I'm thinking in my head which makes people think I'm talking to myself. But no audible sound is coming out so I'm really not.

My mom does that. She is the worst story teller ever.

She also likes making it sound like she has huge news and doesn't.
