The way I thought of this question was by looking for applications for even and odd numbers. If your competition has an even number of players like 2 or 4 you can have 1 vs 1 or 2 vs 2. Since it is the same on both sides that makes it a fair fight. On the other hand voting with 2 or 4 people casting votes doesn't always produce a majority vote since it can be tied at 1 to 1 or 2 to 2. If you use odd numbers like 3 or 5 it is impossible to have the same numbers on both sides. The closest you can get is 1 to 2 or 2 to 3. So there it is. The best application of even and odd numbers to the real world
