About $1400 for a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. I plan to keep it for at least 7 years since it'll have support for that long, so that's not too bad on a per year basis.

I got mine for $200 due to a pricing error and the manager of the store looked so defeated when I showed them the website screwing up the price. Probably the best deal I've got on anything.

$80 on a used pixel 4a, but i didn't like the hole on the screen for the camera so I sold that for $75 then spent $25 to get a screen replacement for my old phone, a sony xz1 compact. I think it needs a new battery soon too, but I don't wanna take it apart again.
I was using a dumb phone for a couple of years and I think I'll go back to that.

I think the sony xz1 compact was around $100 when I bought it back in 2019 but idr, since I paid cash for it on craigslist.

Around $12 to $15 I think. It is a basic trimline phone from the 1980's with the green illuminated backlight with the only feature being redial.

Yes I only own a landline phone. Never had a cellphone even though I know that was probably the purpose of the question. And yes I'm being serious.

You bring this up often and I find it really fascinating. You don't have to deal with a lot of bullshit but at the same time not having at least a cheap smartphone with barely anything installed on it seems inconvenient.

$400. Getting top of the line is a chump move unless you're a dev. Especially when that means your phone bill is $60 instead of $20. This industry is designed to fleece you. Might as well burn your money.

I did about that for the S21 Ultra 3 years ago, but I doubt the battery will last that long. When I first got it, I only had to charge it once every 4 days, and for the last year its been every day, sometimes needing a fractional charge later if I really burn up video all day or something listening in my pocket with the screen off.

Are you charging your phone overnight? If so, stop that. Don't keep lithium batteries plugged in all the time, whether that's your laptop or phone. I've had my Nokia 7 since release and my laptop since 2015 and the batteries still operates as they did day 1. My phone only needs to be charged every 3 days or so

I think most new phones are safe to leave plugged in by now. I just got a lithium Ion weedeater though that really specifies not doing that.

1200 for an iPhone XS Max, in 2018. Bought it to replace previous phone, a DSLR, a videocamera, partly a Wacom tablet and as a gaming device. Does the job still, feel it was worth it. Battery is at 77% max capacity after 6 years but it still lasts long enough with a charge in the morning and the evening.

Yeah, the unibody design is the problem. If you could buy another $30 battery it would be good as new.

Yeah, that's my main concern. My Note 10+, I had previously, I had to charge once or twice a day. Not as nice as the S24U is doing with a new battery, but it wasn't too big of a problem for me.

Constantly sure. But overnight for a new phone? I usually let mine down to atleast 70% before I plug it in for the night. Should I just unplug it when I have my 2-3am wide awake hour when it's at 100%?
