Digimon definitely has the better anime

fun fact: Akira Toriyama was originally asked to design the human cast but he declined and suggested Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, one of the animators who worked on Dragon Ball. And so, Nakatsuru would be the one to design the human cast:

Biggest issue is that there never was considered a standard for what a Digimon game was supposed to be like.

I just finished watching Digimon Tri. I previously watched it when it was released nearly a decade ago but I never got around to finishing it. The first four chapters are very slice of life. I enjoy that kind of stuff but it did need more action. And they needed to flesh out some of the newer characters some more. The final two chapters were pretty weak. There was one scene where Taichi could have fallen to his death and everyone just watches with a blank stare on their face. Then Matt finds his goggles and wears them and says "Taichi would want this". Seeing her brother nearly die causes Hikari to freak out and Gatomon dark digivolves but that's about it.

Digimon is a bit weird in that we're 20 years past v-pets being relevant, but Bandai never really migrated the franchise "core" to any other type of media. So it just continues to exist in this weird, multi-media web of chaos.

This year we get an anime. Next year a game. Maybe a light novel. A manga that's exclusive to Singapore. $300 v-pets. A movie. Hey, here's some new Digimon, we're not actually putting them in anything but you can look at them in the reference book! Here's some lore on a fantasy land dead toy line. Nothing to do with Digimon, except, Wizardmon is from there!

Like there are still a few Digimon that don't exist as anything other than a single lcd sprite from Japan-only design contests in the 90s. HolyDigitamamon is a real digimon that has not been in anything in 20 years lmao

I swear to god they just throw random shit at the wall and don't even think about where its leading. Frontier/Season 4 gave us two digimon and told us they were Royal Knights, and told us there was a specific number of Royal Knights. That was like 2002. The last Royal knight wasn't even revealed to exist for like a decade after that lol.

I hadn't seen Digimon in so many years. The fights in The Last Evolution Kizuna felt very DBZ like to me. Was the original series like that, too? Makes sense since it's also animated by Toei

Between the two it's kind of a push Pokmon has better mechanics and naming but Digimon has cooler monsters and a better anime.

Yall sleeping on Digimon games though. The majority of them are really good, especially the DS games. Cyber Sleauth is their best game, I just wish it had more current Digimon.

I played this game named anode heart recently (haven't actually finished it yet) and it was pretty good. Supposed to be a take on Digimon world games, which if that's true I'm assuming they are good.

Anyway Digimon came first so there's that.

There's supposed to be another Story game in the works based on the Olympus 12. God only knows when it'll release but Im sure it'll have more.

I personally hope they add the Bancho digimon. Specifically Bancho Lillymon >_>

Idk cyber sleuth was more fun than any new pokemon games even if the writing and translation is wonky

I like the Pokmon game for its competitive game play but I like Digimon for the story and world.

I'd be happy with just a screenshot or a promise that the game is still in development. But with how long it took for Digimon Survive to come out I'm not surprised.

I recommend buying it on the Switch so you can get Hacker's Memory along with it. There's some Digimon that unlock after you beat Cyber Sleuth that you can get in Hacker's Memory, and vice versa.

I never played any of the games in either series.

Comparing the anime, and I've only seen the 90s shows, Digimon had cooler-looking monster characters. Digimon had [redacted]-looking monster characters. Digimon had better fight scenes.

Alongside Superhuman Samurai Syber-Squad, it's one of the few times that I liked the cash-in better than the product that was being cashed in on.

The two should stop being compared. Digimon is closer to DBZ than it is to Pokemon.

Pokemon has the better games, but Digimon excels in everything else. Anime was better, and the monster designs are more interesting.

I find it crazy how new Digimon media is still being made today. I never even hear anyone mention outside of this site. And with how big Pokemon is, it's amazing how it has managed to survive for this long.

You guys should check out anode heart on steam, it's pretty good.

I must of broke the game (or my PS1) when I was younger, because one time when I was trying to get a new monster and it asked to scan a disc so I put the game disc back in to scan and it gave me a Red Wolf but after that no matter what disc I scanned after that it always gave me the same red wolf.
