Grad school has its own pressures, but I can do most of the things I need to do on my own time. I've literally never had a good or consistent sleep schedule in my life, and I just seem to be incapable of getting up consistently before 10 AM. I'm also a person that requires a LOT of downtime in order to function, and 8-9 hours a day seems insurmountable. I've worked jobs like that in the past and I can't fathom doing them for the rest of my life. I understand that a job is probably going to be orders of magnitude less demanding than grad school and I don't have to take any work home with me, but I don't know how much that's going to mitigate my stress. Has anyone else been in a similar situation?

it sucks, i hate it, but depending on what you're looking to do, maybe you can find something that lines up better for you?
I've worked factory jobs where I worked like 4x10 or 3x12, so you get more downtime, but the tiem while you're at work sucks a little more. like, if you can find a job working 2nd / 3rd shift, so you don't have to wake up early if that's actually a real problem. --- "To be, or not to be - there is no such question. I felt the same way. After years of going through that shit and paying off everything I own I quit and do side hustles to pay what bills I have left. Can't imagine working for a corporation ever again.
