Jacob once made a YouTube video that was like 20 minutes long where he threaten to kill me because I was responsible for sending UFC fighter Ben Askren to his house to beat him upor something. It was at that point I realized he actually needed help. I made a whole topic apologizing for bullying him, and owning it. I encouraged others to also not bully him. The thing is Jacob was labeled a witch and for good reason. So since 75% of the damn NRS boards were ragging on him, I did as well. I never even considered that I was the bullyas did nobody elseit was just par for the course. The sky is blue. The grass is green. Lets make fun of Jacob on the NRS boards. We sometimes forget that awful people can also be the victims of bullying and harassmentand honestly that just descends them further into madness. Thats how supervillains are created. Unfortunately, too little too late. Jacob is actually in legal trouble (maybe even prision) for drunkenly assaulting his family members with a machete. It was on a twitch live stream too. But I do believe that I, as well as all the other posters, indirectly contributed to him going mad, which is why I try to be more aware of my actions these days. Even if I feel as if someone deserves it I still do my best to restrain. Like me or hate me, thats a sticking point of my personal moral compass that is unwavering. Its what got me into conflict with all the Reddit folks. I didnt let them harass people, so, they made their own platform to do it I do believe in general a community like Current Events while not all toxic, does inspire a certain type of bully mentality to it, I suppose you could call it seeking conflict with others that you disagree with. I dont want to duck or run from that takeaway - this is something Fandom discussed and anticipated before making these changes. I understand that many of you have been contributing to these topics for years and feel as though it has been productive and handled respectfully. We understand that legacy - the CE board is continuing precisely because for the most part, this opinion has been largely true. The CE board is continuing - if you were passionate about contributing there, you can continue to contribute there with the same engaged fellow members youve had. These changes are about recognizing the internet has changed over the course of the last 20 years and setting the foundation for a better future - political discussion does not make sense as a core driver of conversations on a site dedicated to video games and gameplay. I dont believe if GameFAQs was to be started today, that political topics would be part of the structure of the site. I do want to caution against some of the slippery slope arguments I have seen in the comments - many of these rules changes are in fact just formalizing informal policies that have existed here. I know, for instance, some of the worst political flame posts have been removed for trolling. Nor is this a precursor for us banning discussion about our identities and passions. Nor is this a sign that Fandom is trying to kill off GameFAQs. We are, after internal discussion and review, making a set of rule changes and board structural tweaks to address some long-standing concerns that have been brought to us. Nothing more, nothing less.
