Should I hold off or buy it now? I want to get the smaller sized OLED one. I never buy things at its full price though.

Also, is it possible to mod games easily on it?

I'm still pissed I cancelled my limited edition order when it dropped. They're selling for over $1100 now in new condition.

But yeah summer sale or Black Friday.

They go on sale twice a year I believe, & Valve said a big refresh that wasn't the OLED was gonna be in the next year or two. So they should hit that sale around June/August like someone said, & then in Winter or around when they start to market the next deck

I wonder if the refresh is Steam Deck 2. What else would it be?

Yeah basically. The OLED was already a massive step up in performance & utility compared to the LED mode, so if the OLED was like 40-50% better, the 2 should be like 70% better if I was just gonna make up some numbers

Ummm it's about a year out I'd hazard, so unless you get a great deal on one yeah I would wait for the best model. Valve is intent on supporting the Deck long term, & it's been making much better strides in improvements than the Switch, Ayaneo, or other handhelds have been making.

I guess Ill just play the Switch until Deck 2

The Windows integration with the ROG is pretty poor AFAIK still. Like yes you can run & play games & set everything up on it, but the QoL & UI are very underbaked last I checked. You'd still want to partition it & then just run your Steam shit on one 1/2 then Windows/GOG/Epic or whatever on the other side so you can have your Linux integration steady on one part of it.

fuck no. steam deck is fucking incredible. even if you only have it for a year before a new model, that year will be filled with so much more joy and happiness than a switch will provide you. seriously.
