For the animal itself or the vet trip to get shots/fixed?

I'm assuming the animal itself, if so it's basically two litter of cats for free. Ofcourse "free" also cost like 400 something dollars for spay/neuter and shots for one. Might wonder how one adopts an entire litter of cats twice. The mother cat decides she's going to deploy them like a landing craft during a beach assault and you're overwhelmed by cuteness.

I didnt pay for my cat myself. A friend bought her for me. I think it may have been $100 or something from the local cat shelter.

Just the adoption fee or what you paid to whoever you bought it off of.

Then it was free.

And here's an older picture for evidence with all but 2 of them present. 1 of the ones not present died to a dog attack several months after, but these and the unphoto'd father are all still present, making 9 of the monsters in total (8 in pic). We tried to find some of them homes, but any takers flaked out and the shelters were over capacity.

The landing craft is on the far right.

My last two cats were adopted yes, and they already had shots and spay/neuter. So like 50 to 70ish each I can remember. My oldest cat I took off my gf hands for free, so I just paid for shot and spay, maybe 120ish or less probably.

Not the most recent one, because she has ongoing health issues, so the deal was that we'd pay for any vet care instead (the rescue we used usually has a policy where they pay for vet care needed in the first few months).

The one before that from the same rescue was a 60 admin fee.

Yeah, puppy adoption fees over here range from $100-$150, so when I adopted a puppy 4 years ago I paid $100 I think

Exactly.

First tiel was $120 with a cage, tame. Second was $50, no cage, not tame. They made the 3rd and 4th. (The original two have since passed away, and aside from being siblings the remaining two are both girls so no more babies.)

No, my Shmoopy Goopy was abandoned in town as a kitten and I started taking care of her when she kept showing up in my yard.

Not for our latest cat, he had a medical condition that they didn't know he was going to survive so they were looking for a long term foster for him. Now that he's fully grown the vets are happy that he's ok, you wouldn't know there was anything wrong with him. Then after 2 years they let us fully adopt him and didn't ask for a donation, but we regularly donate to that shelter anyway.
Our older cat which we got a few years earlier we did have to pay a donation for him.

No. The last dog my family adopted, we took in because her original owner couldn't take care of her anymore and we ended up fostering her. Then we completely failed to find an owner because the dog in question was completely un-socialized toward anyone but us, so we kept her until we unfortunately had to put her down late last year (fuck cancer, man).

Yes, $25 adoption fee and $35 lifetime license fee (otherwise would have been $25 a year) for our foxhound mix that we got from the local shelter back in February.

I forget how much, but over a $100 for assorted vet bills that the foster home took care of while they were awaiting for someone to adopt her.

No. Mine was a stray. I had a cement pillar in front of my house. I had some farm cats and I think it was a effort to stay away from them. She was there a few days. I kept calling her Baby. So one day she jumps down and runs in the house. I had her so long that there wasnt facebook or anything similar to post her missing. I called the nearest shelter and asked if anyone was looking for her. They said no. She was clearly spayed and clipped. So she was mine I guess. I had her for 12 years. So she might have been 17 to 20. I sadly lost her in my first move. I did not have a cat crate and the effort to move her to the truck a car came by and jumped out of my arms. She ran underneath the house. She would not come back. Never found her again :(
