Because the N64 was a shitty console with zero third party support-- and it took them almost 2 years to get the RE2 port done.

I don't think the RE2 port sold very well, so Capcom probably didn't see it as worthwhile to port the other PS1 games.

RE2's popularity was nuts so why not try to get a bit more pocket change from the N64 crowd I'm guessing. RE1 was skipped over for maybe because it wasn't considered as much as a must have (maybe it was one of those final fantasy kind of things where like, final fantasies 2, 3, and then 5 were skipped over because in 2 and 3's case it would have taken too much time to localize and by the time they were ready gamers are more focused on the next generation console, and in 5's case its another one of those localization takes so long why not just put our efforts to the sequel we are really throwing our weight at production-wise. RE1 on the nintendo 64 could have simply just been in that final fantasy 5 type of situation). RE2 was talked about everywhere for it's time and was so popular it helped kicked off resident evil movies.

I always kind of wondered why RE2 never got a sega saturn port. Like the saturn definitely got thrashed everywhere outside of japan, while the nintendo 64 kind of flopped in japan and did not do too crazy in europe (north america seemed to be the main region that carried the N64).....seems like they could have got more money out of that by also catering to japan's saturn crowd.

It really wasnt a bad port either, randomized mode was fun as hell. Added some stuff like files but had to cut corners somewhere.

Porting RE2 to the N64 was a massive undertaking, one that which probably Capcom didn't want to go through again.

I always go back and forth on whether I liked the dual shock edition or N64 version more. N64 version is pretty damn cool with being able to mess around with traditional tank controls or the analog stick movement, the randomizer, more files you can read and the nice load times, but the PS1 version had the crispy sound and a extra mini game.

Def played them both so many times though.

Oh man I remember way back in the day leaked pictures of Resident Evil 0 on the N64. I wonder how different that game would've been compared to the one we got on the GameCube?

The RE2 port took a long-ass time to make. RE1 was too old, and RE3 would have been too late in its lifespan.
