Never. They are too intelligent to eat. It should banned to hunt them. Japan, Norway I think, and some native American/Canadian tribes hunt them still. It needs to stop

Pigs are smart animals as well but people still eat them.

People are weird about which meat they do and do not eat in general

If we are basing our decisions on intelligence pork should be eliminated. Pigs are very high on the intelligence list only behind Dolphins and Ravens. Killer whales (Orcas) are about 15 spots behind pigs on intelligence. Orcas are down near where deer are.

Like, if I went to someone's home for a meal and they served it, I would. But more because it would be rude and wasteful to refuse than out of any desire to eat Shamu.

I wouldn't go out and buy whale meat for myself though.

yup. pigs are smarter than dogs, but most people consciously object to eating the latter. i also find it weird that so many people use intelligence as a barometer to determine if it's acceptable to slaughter a creature because you enjoy how its flesh tastes. it seems almost unanimous that we don't selectively apply morality to humans based on their intelligence (ie dumb people deserve the same treatment as smart people), so why do we treat animals that way?

it really just comes down to "i have some personal attachment to a member of that species = don't eat".

Unless there are no other options, killing a whale is no better than murder. Same for elephants and at least some great apes like orangutans.

Huh, I didn't realize deer were classified as megafauna.

Always kept the image of it only applying to gigantic Pleistocene motherfuckers.

This, but don't exactly put it all on the packaging either. I already feel like plant-based products get a bad rap because folks see it in the freezer section and get 'scared' off.

Thanks to a certain burger chain that knows what they did, I'm surprisingly good with plants being ironically smothered with lettuce and tomato.

i really hope this takes off. but i fear it will take a while, especially since the conservative war against it has already started. the propaganda machine has gotten momentum and they've even started to ban lab grown meat in certain places. why? because the people in charge own cattle farms.
