Yeah, Marvelous really needs a localization. It's like Zelda LttP meets The Lost Vikings, and was the first game Eiji Aonuma directed.

You're not missing anything. Battletoads in Battlemaniacs was awful.

Battletoads & Double Dragons was pretty good though.

I have quite a few. They have Fire Emblem 1, Fire Emblem 3, Fire Emblem 4, Fire Emblem 6 SMT1, SMT2, SMT If..., Custom Robo 1, Custom Robo 2, some Mahjong gameboy game, Mother 3. There's probably a few more, but that's all the big ones I can think of

It won't help with the language barrier, but you can play the Japanese NSO games with an American account. Just need to create a free JP account and download the app, then boot it up with your American profile.

I think Japan even has kyuuyaku megami tensei, so you can play the entire Megami Tensei series without skipping up to smt3
