Like, half of the Canadian population lives on the border. Would they just be further south if the border didn't exist?

I've always held out hope that their could be some kind of North American version of the EU so I could go to Arizona and work without the hoop jumping of green cards.

Obviously not possible anymore, and especially won't be after Trump wins in November but I digress.

To answer your question though, no. Too many Canadians despise hot weather, and are all in on hockey to go further south except for vacations.

I'm sure many Canadians would love to live further away from the US border but we would need revolutionary technology to make the area liveable.

We already are in Canada South.
North Country New York has a huge Canadian vibe.

Hell, Minnesota is pretty much the 11th province.

Yeah we love our hockey and maple syrup like Canadians and people in the very north can watch the CBC on TV. Northeast upstate also has a lot of Francophone speakers like Quebec. Then again I am half Canadian.

You just reminded me of NAFTA and how Trump bitched about NAFTA since the 90s only to when he finally got in power delete NAFTA and replace it with the USMCA which was like identical to NAFTA in every way except Canada paid sightly more for dairy and US paid slightly more for lumber and this fixed all the problems Trump had with NAFTA somehow.

I mean, that's not really what the EU allows it's citizens to do, but yeah. Trump is a disaster for everyone not just the US.

Going to be really sad when I can't see my US niece's anymore come January. Thank god they're visiting this summer one last time.

I know what the EU is. NAFTA/USMCA is just the closest thing we have to it and it's what comes to mind when someone says North American version of EU.

If such a thing were to happen at all, it would definitely use the USMCA as a base and fill out the rest of the details.

To be fair, the EU did start off as a trade association, with the free market etc. The free movement came later

You truly believe that Trump has a goal of keeping Canadians out of America? Very bizarre. Where do you get these kinds of thoughts from? I'm curious if you really believe this, or if your logic is literally "well Trump doesn't like illegal immigrants, so surely he doesn't like Canadians either since we're illegal too". Very troubling, either way.

And here we are with the contradictions already. You just got done saying that you "hope" for easier access for Canadians into America, and then a few sentences later you state that Canadians will steer clear of America. The cherry on top is that you even added "just for vacations", after clearly stating that you want easier access to America for work. Very troubling post, this is.
