There is a boat ride that gets you close to dolphins. That was kinda cool. You can get surfing instructions if you want to try and learn the bare basics of how to surf. Or just simply lay on the beach and get some sun or play in the ocean. There were a few swimming fairly close to shore that we watched. It was very nice. Spent some decent time there and around the Hampton Roads area in general. Great area. Im not into big cities with heavy population as Im a small town guy from the Midwest but as far as larger population areas go I loved my time in the area. That was in the 90s though. 95 to 99.
