I see endless videos on youtube of a dude with studio headphones sitting next to a frame from some video game song. If there are any channels that are actually educational I'd be interested in an analysis of the music theory, but I'm worried it's all just "guy nods along with song and then says he likes it".

Make some recs of you have any. I want to believe this entire "subgenre" isn't just react content but it certainly looks like it.

I am subbed to this Guy hinging on his subscribers music taste and little else I have to admit. Hes not super insightful as. I impressioned him as when I watch the rare video he responds with something that is eye catching. He is not to blame though cos he has 0 video game context to where the song plays so its kinda hard to see him have a stronger analysis than a person in YouTube who wrote an insightful comment knowing the full context purely passionately and not as a full on video so its not the same or fair

I'm more interested in a technical deep dive into WHY certain songs hit a certain way. Things like a composer or producer being able to point out how the timing of a key change when layered with the right kind of vocals is designed to elicit a specific response (no idea of any of that is true, just making something up as an example).

I've seen videos like that now and then, though now that I think of it I don't recall one about a video game song.

This topic was more or less caused by me finally clicking on one of these types of videos and actually being impressed with the analysis. My fear is that it's an anomaly and not the norm.

99.9% of reaction channels are garbage, but I'll at least I'll take these over "____ listens to Classic rock song for the first time" and has an emotional experience like they never ever in their entire life heard songs like Stairway To Heaven or Dream On before. If you've existed on this planet for more than 5 minutes, you've heard those songs 500 times before already.

Yeah, I find those reaction or "common man expert" reviews channels to easily fall victim to inflated scoring. You know, to grab views and fanboys of review subject, as suscribers, and Shares.

The so called trap that professional critics fall to, supposedly? The "common public reviewer" fall in to even easier. Because they are even more desperate for the pennies.
