Specifically an unwarranted pride. People respond positively to confidence; in an uncertain world the person who looks most certain is comforting. Even if you don't know what you're doing, someone does. This is both normal and understandable.

But this is a problem. We have begun to embrace proud ignorance over quiet wisdom. The man who knows nothing is not aware he knows nothing. He is supremely confident, whereas the more one is aware of the wider world and that they lack the capacity to understand all things, the more carefully they choose their words. To fools this appears to be cowardice. To many people just worried about the future who may ofherwise be smart but lack the knowledge to refute these proud fools, it can be an unreliable lifeline.

Pride is said to be the greatest sin.

Unfortunately, pride in ignorance is especially common in today's world.

With the Internet both knowledge and foolishness have been able to travel faster than ever before, abd it has become near impossible to tell the difference at times.

You have probably seen someone standing on a box near a concert hall or stadium shouting the end times are near and we need to convert; this setting causes most people to disregard them as crackpot or at least potentially crackpot. There was once a similar barrier to publication or appearing in the news; but every website is a newspaper and a soapbox and they look quite similar for savant and imbeciles alike so long as you know some html or can hire someone who does.

As wild as it sounds, the oft-aligned phrase " do your own research" is actually a good idea. The difference is that one should search out multiple trusted sources to ascertain truth rather than dig into a rabbit hole to find one guy with a PhD who agrees with your preconceived notions.

The number one issue is the greed of the ruling class.
