it is weird that none of the series has been ported to PC, Switch, or Xbox after all this time.

Some of them are, but except for Melody of Memories, they're only available via cloud versions. The cloud versions have demos you can use to test your connection with

the only kingdom hearts game not on any other platform is the rhythm game melody

and i guess that mobile game

The story so far collection is all you need.

I feel like KH lore/story is an all or nothing thing; you either get really invested and are obliged to comb through the details of every "side" game or you give up and resent the series for constantly doing weird shit that only slightly makes more sense if you played one of the four phone games that aren't even active anymore.

Also, I want a game where the Disney stuff is completely replaced by Square Enix world hopping. That's a pipedream though, ain't no way Disney would let that fly. It'd have to be a different series completely.

It's the main reason I stopped playing them.

Whimsical Disney nostalgia fused with fun Final Fantasy cameos was a cool idea. But I could not remotely care less about Nomura's convoluted ORIGINAL CHARACTER DONUT STEEL bullshit.

It also doesn't help that the Disney nostalgia part is focusing more on newer films and Pixar stuff that I don't really care about rather than the older cartoons I have actual nostalgia for. I get why - younger gamers grew up with 90s/00s shows and films, and aren't going to care about stuff like Jungle Book, Robin Hood, or Tron as much as they do Frozen or Moana or whatever. But it's not my Disney.

I'd be happier with the reverse - drop all the Squeenix crap entirely and just have Disney world-hopping. I'd find it way more interesting.
