Mine is nearly tied between Pet Sematary and The Shining, with Pet Semetary taking a slight lead.

Singular novel its the uncut version of The Stand.

But I highly enjoyed The Dark Tower series. Started it in high school when only a couple books were done. The ending pissed me off but overall I still like it and within the series Wizard and Glass is the best book and the highlight of the series to me.

I grew up a big Stephen King fan. Edit for a late add on. I also absolutely love The Green Mile and think its one of the better adaptations from Book to Film.

Fuck that book. I saw it coming from a mile away and still it BROKE MY FUCKING HEART.

King is amazing at that honestly. It's one of his primary gifts as a writer.

It's hard to say for me honestly. The Dark Tower books a whole are frest, though no individual qualifies as favorite. If I had to pick I'd say IT or The Stand.

I've read about a dozen of his novels and enjoyed most of them.

Pet Sematary

This is my favorite. Such a visceral depiction of grief. I'm still pissed at how badly the 2019 film butchered it. The real meat of the novel is Louis's descent into grief and madness, spanning nearly a third of the book. Louis's dream about Gage surviving and growing up made me cry. The 2019 movie glossed over all that (in a fucking montage) in favor of being a generic horror flick about a creepy little girl. How original.

Thats actually why I liked him. I would devour books so fast when I was a kid a 300 page book would be over so fast and didnt feel like it built any real backstory, any tension, it was just over so fast.

So I got hooked on King in Elementary because he had good size stand alone books. He really went deep on story and descriptions. The uncut version of the stand has like 100 page background story on a character he kills after that and I actually loved that.

Though the Dark Tower started my obsession with pretty much only reading long multi-book series because I crave so much detail and story. Unfortunately it also started me reading series that werent finished. I try to avoid that these days unless a story is done.

But give me a good 8 to15 book series where every book is 700 pages to 1,000 pages and Im hooked. It all started with King.

My three favorite are The Long Walk (the one that got me into his work), The Shining (deeply personal and powerful), and Revival (The scariest novel I've ever read). This latter one especially is underrated. It was written in 2014 and shows he still is a master of horror.

This is the exact reason why the 2019 film disappointed me. A modernization of the first film wouldve done so much better.

Roland talks a lot of his past when he was a teenager in Wizard and Glass, book 4. I think its the best singular book of the series.
