Great game, but it felt like it had a less than the sum of its parts thing going on, similar to Y5 and Lost Judgment.

I loved Dodonko Island. Highlight of the game for me

Sated my Yakuza/LaD fix for the time being.
I will yearn for more soon. Can't get enough of these kind of stories, makes me wonder if there's any sort of k-drama or japanese shows in similar vein.

the hawaii stuff is a drag but the highs are so high i dont even care

i do not care for the side hustles in this one at all

I think I'm near the end and am enjoying it much more than 7. In general, the humor works way better in this game and it also handles serious moments better. 7 got very soap opera like melodramatic near the end.

Combat is also much more engaging even though the additions seem rather minor (such as positioning mattering more).

I'd say I'm about halfway through by chapters. On chapter 6 and just got to Dondoko Island. And...idk. it's weird. Like gameplay wise it's nice. But Hawaii feels too big for its own good filled with stuff. The story hasn't gripped me after a very good opening in the first chapter and prologue. I think it's finally starting to pick up which is why I'm trying to ger all the side content done so I can focus 100% on the main plot and substories.

But at this point the only thing I can ask is.. what is the point of Kiryu in this story?
