Just completed it. What did you think about the game in the following categories?

Music - Phenomenal. Such nostalgia. FVII really is about the music for me. Hits that little switch in my head that makes me well up. My only downside was I was disappointed in the Cosmo Canyon theme. It felt a bit lack lustre and didnt really hit a high.

Battles - Really good. Fluid and lots of customization to be had. Each character actually felt different. The only one o didnt enjoy the Cait Sith but maybe I didnt give him much of a chance.

Story - Loved it. Kept to the main beats of the OG. Was happy to get the nibelheim flashback out of the way at the start as Ive seen it so many times in various guises I was actually dreading it. Felt they rushed Temple of the Ancients > Lost Capital. Was it that quick in the OG?

Ending - Meh. I know a lot of people were annoyed at the ending but I liked it. Intrigued to see where it goes. Unsure if I feel the last few bosses were just too much or not. I did them all first time apart from the last battle when he fucks you up at the end when down to low health. Finally just kept a limit break to finish him off.

World Map / Side Quests - Really enjoyed the open maps at first. 100% Initial area and Junon. Then for whatever reason got a bit bored. Skipped through the rest of the areas. Loved the car game and plenty of content to get through to 100% it. Will probably go through the areas and clear them out soon.

Probably give it 8/10. Would have gotten 9/10 but it was a bit too long for me and some parts were a slog. I.E. Costa Del Sol.

It was the most gorgeous game I've ever played and I'm stunned no one is giving it credit for its aesthetics. Instead people are claiming the graphics are bad? I don't think anyone stopped to appreciate the level of detail in the world. All the buildings and architecture and all the objects that filled them. As someone who dabbled in 3D modeling, I can't fathom how they were able to produce so many assets. As I was playing, I constantly was stopping just to take in everything. It felt like I was going on a vacation with these character. Especially with Costa Del Sol. I think people forgot how old RPGs used to be, with copy/paste buildings with the decor being nothing more than a table and set of chairs.

I just know I was grinning the whole time I was playing it, marveling how they managed to turn the classic PS1 title into a 4K world. I never could have imagined I'd get to see something like this. This is what people were dreaming of and we finally got it and it gets nothing but hate. And I say that as a really harsh critic. I think people need to go back and play Superman 64 to remind themselves what a bad game is really like.

8/10 is fair. There is a lot I liked, but what I didn't like, I really didn't like.

Pretty much mirror you on music and battles.

The side content feels like they set a quota on side content that they could not fall short of under any circumstances. They ran out of good idea 50% of the way there, all ideas 80% of the wall there, and then said "meh, combat simulator the rest of it"

I'm going to split off story into character, and...well story. The character interactions are just fantastic. It's been said by others, but I agree on it, this is the best version of these characters and it is a joy to watch them interact and even when the game is at it's most unfun, there's that.

My issues with the story come down to a few points:
-Ultimately, the Zack stuff was completely and thoroughly pointless, if you excised every scene with him, nothing would change
-I get what they were trying to do with Aerith, I just don't think they did it well. With the 57 phase boss battle and constant fake outs, the scene felt emotionally compromised. There was a way to do it where that didn't happen.
-The whole story came off as them being scared to follow through on the promises of the final few hours of Remake. For all the talk knowledge of the future and "The Unknown Journey Will Continue", this game was on the rails for 99% of it.

I don't think I've seen anyone straight up say that the graphics are bad. When the game looks good, notably in cutscenes, it looks really good. But there are issues.

-The performance mode looks like awful in this game. I know plenty of people who prioritize framerate who went with graphics mode because of it.

-It has the same issue that PS4 Remake had where you'll come across environmental textures that look like they were ripped from an early PS3 game.

-There are spots where the lighting makes characters look like they are possessed.

-The game has a noticeable ghosting problem, in particular near water.
