They were like this giant store that contained a whole bunch of little stores, and you didn't have to go outside

Some even had fast food and rides in them

We still have ours. Even the arcade there is still going. I never go anymore besides rarely to the Barnes and Noble that's connected to it and I go through the outside entrance and never go into the mall part. Plus it feels kinda weird being there as an adult since I'm not there to buy clothes. I do kinda miss all the different stores that are gone now and hanging out there as a teenager.

I miss them, honestly. Airports kinda have the same vibe but you can't just go to the airport, really

Still is in my city. My favorite one dried up and closed down a few years ago, but the other one is still packed.

Still a thing in the cities I frequent.

My hometowns mall is the cities biggest hangout, and then when Im in Phoenix Arizona Mills and Scottsdale Fashion Square are still popping.

Why is CE so convinced that malls are dead?

Because they are.

Nowadays we have these things called "strip malls" that are a row of stores you have to drive to.

Gotta love that suburban sprawl.

I think indoor malls are dying if they arent dead already but outdoor malls/complexes seem to be popping up around every major city

They arent though. I literally pointed out multiple active malls in my post, and thats not even getting into tourist trap malls like Mall of America, Carousel, West Edmonton and so on.

Strip malls/plazas were what existed before malls, we've simply gone back to the older form.

Retail Archaeology recently did a video on the (real) Twin Pines Mall from Back to the Future. It's like a ghost town in there.

There is one in Saint Louis that is still going pretty well. The rest are closed or half empty. Hell the one whole wing of the South County mall is almost abandoned and had homeless people sleeping in the bathroom when I last went there.

Going to the mall in the 90s was definitely awesome. Shame we won't ever experience anything like that anymore
