I might be slightly misunderstanding here, but going off of the picture I really don't see how any sort of zoning change in that particular boxed in area would fix the housing problem. Even all the speculation around height and views seems to be based on the assumption that at least one of the buildings in that area would be knocked down to be replaced by something else. Is the plan here to just forcibly evict everyone living in one of those buildings?

I don't think anyone is saying that this specific area is going to fix the housing crisis. San Francisco is trying to become more pro-housing, which means building more homes everywhere from low-income to high-income areas.

More homes everywhere will help solve the issue. People who care about this issue should rightfully be mad of attempts to hinder a pro -housing movement.

Wouldn't it be more effective and direct to build rent controlled affordable housing in a different area of the town instead of doing any that tho
If the government was building the housing, then yes. If it is just getting out of the way and letting private developers build housing then no.

Rich people will pay to be where they want to be

when rich people move into luxury condos or whatever, they free up less expensive housing in other areas

when there isnt a supply of high end housing for the rich people, they move into the next level down of housing to be near the places they want to live

it's SF. it's literally never going to be affordable for poor people unless it's government subsidized housing.

I live on the other side of the country and I'd move to SF just for the weather if it was actually "affordable"

it's straight 70F all year long. that's literally perfect weather unless you've lived in SoCal your whole life and are used to that kind of stupid heat.

Whenever I'd go to San Francisco in the summer, I'd consider it to be cold. And it was. Compared to the Sacramento area.

Also, perfect weather is more like upper 70s or low 80s. >_>

Or we can just build high density in existing locations that are already close to downtown areas with public transportation and lots of jobs.
If they had done high density from the start, think how much more public nature areas they could have

I'm sure millions of Americans would gladly move to one of the 3-4 best cities in the country if they could afford it.

low 80s it too hot anywhere its humid.

I live in MA so Ive gone through the full spectrum of -20F in the winter and 100F with 95% humidity in the summer. 70F all year round would be shorts and t shirt weather for me.

Unpopular opinion: Knowing that it would be condemned no matter what it did, Israel should have completely leveled Gaza from day one. Better to shoot first and ask questions later!

Youre shocked that on Elons twitter that asshole accounts come to the top? You are in favor of expensive rents, delusional about SF weather, and ignorant about how twitter works. Seems like the type that would support Peskin
