Like Catholicism retained much of its ceremony and organizational structure even though the rest of the faith moved towards the belief that God is a personal, direct relationship that needs no "red tape". To me the latter sounds more...familial and warm. If you believe in the Holy Father why not try to make it something that you get to participate in personally and without a hierarchy?
