Also I loved the first two open world areas. Everything after felt felt superfluourous. Dunno if I got bored of them or they got worse.

I didn't have much trouble with LN. Galiant Beast stomped me on the first try, but second I took him pretty easily after I tweaked my Materia. Roche almost took me down, Cloud was at a sliver of hp when I beat him. Fun fights but yeah, a bit of a difficulty spike.

This is why its difficult. You got burned out on the extra stuff and started skipping after the first 2-3 areas and now youre not over leveled like you were before.

Exploring is annoying because of shit like cliffs. I didn't find the game difficult, enemies just have bloated HP on normal

Yeah thats where I am at the moment. Ill probably do Nibelheim region and leave gongora and cosmo for later.

I don't know why people lump Cosmo Canyon and Gongaga together. Yes, Gongaga was a cramped, confusing hellhole. I'll probably never replay the game from the beginning because of that area alone. But Cosmo Canyon didn't feel nearly as bad, probably because it was much more open and the gimmick was more fun.

gongaga's bad because there's no markers of chocomushrooms on the map or any indication of how far they send you. some mushrooms drop you off directly in front of them and others launch you 1000 feet. it's a jungle so it makes sense that it's somewhat hard to traverse but definitely frustrating.

I did lose to galian beast the first time. Roche was a cakewalk though.

Gongaga couldve been cut from the game and the whole experience would be better tbh

It also has some of the worst side content in the game (ingredient hunting, gathering chickens, training that guy).

So Im sure people just got extremely burned out in that area and it carried over to Cosmo Canyon which I thought was fun.
