I was just thinking earlier today that I haven't heard anything about her in a while, like pretty much since Inu-Yasha ended, but I saw on her wikipedia page that she's worked on two mangaka since then; Rin-ne, which has concluded, and MAO, which is still in progress. Has anyone read either of these? Just wondering how they are. On the wiki page, it shows that neither one has come anywhere close to the popularity of Inu-Yasha nor Ranma.

She had essentially three magnum opuses in a row with Urusei Yatsura, Ranma, and Inuyasha, it's ok for her to have some flops after that.

my brother used to read the Mermaid's stuff when we were kids, and I remember it creeping me out, lol.

Ranma was great, though.

Mermaid Saga is better than Inuyasha imo.

Maison Ikkoku is where its at :)

Also, shes just really quiet in general. She was the most published woman author in the world for years and years until JK Rowling with Harry Potter.

In hindsight, I wish that Ms. Takahashi had managed to keep her crown.

This

Love Maison Ikkoku, my favorite from her. I'm actually in the process of re-reading, since it was brought to a collector's edition a few years back and I just found out about it

Ranma 1/2 is my other favorite from her, @ScarfForLife 's fav

Ranma is my favorite series ever. It's the anime that got me into anime and I was really obsessed with it when I was a young teenager all the way through my mid-20's. It even inspired me to take martial arts when I was 16! During my mIRC days, I knew a girl who lived in California and also loved Ranma and Urusei Yatsura and she would send me mail with hand-drawn characters inspired by Takahashi.

I also saw Mermaid's Scar and was amazed by it. It's actually the reason I have a slight fear of piano wire.
