Nope. Had a great time and learned a lot, got scholarships so didn't have debt upon graduation, made a load of friends, and ultimately met my wife (she's a cousin of a college friend) because of it.

---
Irregardless, for all intensive purposes, I could care less.

I dropped out after 1 year, but I still regret going. I had no idea of what I wanted to major in, so I just "defaulted" to computer science. None of my classes in my first year had anything to do with computers at all. They charged $13k in tuition for that year and they were raising tuition the next year. I was so tired of school by that point. I was also dealing with health issues that affected my short term memory, so I just decided to quit.

If I had known about Cisco certs when I was 17 or 18, I probably would have opted to do that instead.

Graduated with very little debt (only $4k thanks to having a full ride for the 1st 4 years and mostly paid for on the 5th year), and career is perfectly in line with my degree.

No ragrets.

I knew when I was in high school it wasn't the path for me. It can be a great path for some. But it was never for me. I watched too many people unsure of what they really want to do go to college and either not even complete it and drop out to take a break for a year and never come back or I watched them rack up debt for a degree that they never even put to use and ended up working in a completely different field and in a job that they never needed to go to college for in the first place.

So I made my decision early that I was joining the U.S Navy. I was going to get the hell out of my small midwestern town and travel the world while not accruing any debt. So that is what I did. Signed up at 17 and left right after high school.

Also if I did want to go to college afterwards I had my GI Bill and even after that was used the Navy would pay for 75% of any college. I never used that but it was a benefit.

So I never owed a penny from college and ended up with a great job that I have been at the last 25 years because of my Navy experience.

I really gained a lot from it as a life stage, but not so much the networking and degree sense. I also have no college debt.

I somewhat regret slacking off in college because it led to me being underemployed for most of my 20s

in retrospect tho that allowed me to have a lot of the fun in my 20s that I neglected to have in college, and Im catching up to where I would have been salary-wise if Id gone directly into my field out of college

but no, I dont regret college at all. Paid off all my debts fairly fast all things considered

overall yes

my debt was only 30k, but I didnt take it seriously. Took 5 and a half years to get a 4 year degree, I didnt socialize with many people I didnt know outside off my high school friends. Lived at home with my parents through most of it, didnt get a girlfriend until senior year.

ij the end I struggled for a few years after college doing menial jobs. And while Im doing great now the whole college experience was a net negative. Im even making good money at a job I didnt even need a degree for

100k? damn thats a lot of money for an undergrad

typical undergrad in canada is 40-50k CAD, including books (which most savvy students just pirate anyways)

The apartment housing section for junior and senior year was not cheap. I wish I would have known it was/is 13k a year. Then its- lets just charge you 350 an academic year for a resident parking permit

My brother went to master's school to become an actuary. He told me much the same: a whole bunch of Asian people were there.

student housing is generally more expensive than market rate. They add in things like housekeeping, sometimes a basic meal allowance, etc. but the allure is for 17-19 year olds to move in with likeminded people, sort of a turnkey solution. The uni that i went to also demanded the entire semester paid up front, which is scammy af. It worked out to like 900 a month for a room rental in a 4-person townhouse, which was expensive at the time. I never did it but a friend of mine did, but she actually preferred to live with her dad for years 2-4.

Absolutely not. College was 100% necessary to get the CPA, and that has more than paid off over time.

But I also recognize that college was relatively cheap for me. I used the local community colleges for most of it, and then was able to get an out-of-state scholarship for the 2 years I needed for the bachelors. Cant recall what the damage was exactly, but I want to say maybe $20-25k and its been long paid off.

Shit got old after my second year, however it got significantly better when I lived with just two others in the apartments. They were still expensive though
edit: for the same price you could move off campus into a small apartment
