over an electric? iirc almost all guys say that electric is at least faster.

I only use manual, but my growth is slow so I dont need to shave that often.

I use a safety razor when it's necessary to be completely clean-shaven, otherwise I'm half-assing it with an electric razor.

I personally need to use a manual razor if I want a close shave

but safety razors >> standard gillette razors

imo the difference in closeness is much smaller than many guys believe

which are the safety razors?

Electric is faster, but a manual razor gets a much closer shave. So it's basically, do I want quick or do I want buttery smooth skin?

I just water shave with a razor since I dont grow that much hair on my face and it's slow

never had an electric. i have very soft and sparse facial hair that's easy to get rid of. and maybe my skin plays a part, but i can get a clean shave off of water and basic razor. never needed to upgrade beyond that.

Really depends how thick your facial hair is. If it's not too thick, it probably doesn't make too much of a difference. I had one friend that tool like 10-15 minutes with a manual because he could only take a couple tiny stokes before the razor was clogged up. I just shave my neck and the stragglers on my cheeks, so electric is way easier. Would probably be hard to get a good line with all that foam.

Oh like the ones from 50 yrs ago, when most guys used those? Possibly inferior tech, otherwise why would they be replaced?

I have only shaved with electric. I grow a beard way too fast and thick that if I wanted to. I could shave clean every day. I let it grow but trim as it gets long. Full reset after some time

They were replaced with the shitty little plastic disposable razors that use proprietary heads. They were replaced because the shitty plastic ones force consumers to buy more, and also force consumers to buy specially-made reloads. It was a marketing and social engineering move.

Electric always makes it look like I have a 5 o'clock shadow. Can't do it.

i have a single blade razor and an electric trimmer. they take about the same amount of time, but i'll normally use the electric one since I like keeping a short-ish beard.

the only thing I don't like about the electric is that I get a ton of split-ends, so I always end up having to go at it with scissors at some point, or shave it all off and start over. if I had the time, I'd only use scissors to trim/maintain the beard.

I have a short beard so I trim it with electric once a week and I shave my neck every other day with safety razor. Cant get a proper clean shave with electric imo.

Unless you're dry shaving, there is no way manual shaving is faster.

I dont even know how to shave with a manual razor. My dad never taught me how when I was young >_>
