Thirty years after its release, the supernatural superhero thriller The Crow is getting the remake treatment from director Rupert Sanders and star Bill Skarsgrd. But Alex Proyas, the director of the original 1994 film starring Brandon Lee, doesnt think thats a good idea. https://variety.com/2024/film/news/original-the-crow-director-disavows-remake-1235945090/ edit: topic title should have "remain Brandon Lee's legacy", but I guess it didn't have the space --- "I could never encapsulate all my cosmicality on my own." - mr. Yeah, the movie should just adapt a different character that isn't Eric Draven.
Doesn't help how ridiculous the reboot Eric looks either. Heard it was disliked quickly and its not surprising --- Michigan Wolverines 30 to Ohio state 24: 11/25/23 Michigan Wolverines Football:15-0 ,Rose Bowl Champions&National Champions ... Copied to Clipboard!

There is no reason to remake the 90s film.
The crow as a franchise is one where you never have to use the same story and characters twice. There is so much they could do with the concept and yet they remake the first film instead. People really need to get over them remaking a 30-year-old movie that has three or four absolutely terrible sequels attached to it. Havent read the graphic novel. Whats that entail? They are on their way back from a romantic get-away at a beach iirc, when their vehicle breaks down on a deserted road. The car full of gang members stops, they get out, they shoot Eric in the head paralyzing him while they rape and kill Shelly in the car. He sees the whole thing because he's conscious but paralyzed. She ends up dying in the process, and the last gang member to take his turn on her does so after she dies. Eric then dies hours later in the hospital. i hate this whole "it's a tribute to him" excuse nonsense. the reason they remade the original is for money. not that there aren't other crow stories to adapt, none of that nonsense. the reason they remake it is simply solely for money and to bank off of the idea that it's a remake. there's no tribute here.
but who cares, in a few years it'll be just one more addition to the absolutely abysmal franchise they've made out of the IP which in itself has been a huge insult to the "legacy" to begin with. --- Disclaimer: There's a good chance the above post could be sarcasm. I've still got the original movie on my shelf, I can watch it whenever I want, regardless of what happens to the franchise.
