Since chi blocking works by hitting pressure points so it seems to have to be stopping the flow of something that slowly opens back up over time, So with bloodbending he is probably just doing the same thing as Chi blocking but instead on a more permanent basis, obstructing the chi flow permanently(Or at least we never got to see anyone suffer the effects of it long term to see if it would eventually wear off) and Energy bending probably fixes it by clearing out that chi blockage BloodMoon7 posted... Read a really good fanfic where Katara's first child (Bumi) was actually Haru's kid not Aang's.
