Aren't you in your early 40's? I'd be honestly pretty surprised at not seeing those, unless you basically never watch tv.

I adore both, but The Thing is a damn near perfect movie.

The food here is terrible. My steak was so tough it attacked my coffee and the coffee was too weak to defend itself.

These were not the results I was expecting.

Is The Thing really that good?

Hell yeah. Lean into it; make some popcorn, get a cold bottle of pop, etc. Elevate your consciousness if you're so inclined.

One thing wrong. It was Blair but when does his infection happen? As many times as I've seen it, I can't spot it

I think it was while he was locked up. When MacReady checks on him he has the noose up, but acts like it's not even there and just keeps saying he won't hurt anyone and he's ready to come in. I think Blair was going to hang himself but the alien got to him first.

I actually completely dislike horror and especially sci-fi but when I was growing up I had to watch what my dad was watching and yeah we always cable and movie channels so I watched virtually every popular movie of the 80s. I saw both of these in the early 80s. For what its worth Ive never rewatched them on my own as an adult because its a genre I just dont like but yeah growing up there was no way around it. Saw them multiple times.

If its a genre someone likes they are certainly classics.

I'm normally not either, but the stuff in The Thing is so unique and so well done and effectively executed. That it transcends my general disinterest in body horror is one of the reasons it's one of my favorite movies.
