My first cat was very aggressive. Singlehandedly improved my reaction time tenfold but only around cats. Haven't been scratched since, it's like I can sense it before it happens.

My cat is very chill and affectionate.

My first cat, Spunky, which was originally my sister's cat, which she snuck in while she was a kitten in the early 90's, was a mean girl, but she didn't start off that way. I don't know at what point in time it started happening, but my sister would abuse Spunky physically because she herself was being abused by her boyfriend at the time. I have no idea how long it went on because I wasn't aware of either Spunky nor my sister being abused, since my sister didn't like to hang out with me and I was almost always by myself.

It wasn't until 2008 when I found out Spunky had diabetes during a vet visit and I started taking much more care of her that she started to be less mean and more loving. I had to put Spunky down in 2009 because she was only about 4 lbs and suffered a seizure and wasn't being very responsive when I took her to the emergency vet. Hardest thing I've had to do in my life up to that point.
