If you're expecting it to be as good as Three Houses, don't. It's nowhere near as good.

But it was still fun enough.

It kinda depends what you are looking for. Gameplay-wise, Engage is so much better than Three Houses. The pacing is better, the maps are better, the objectives are better.

Story, characters and world-building are all better in Three Houses.

This exactly. I'm replaying Engage and everything you said is spot on.

I thought the Emblems were going to be cringey fanservice crap, but they're actually fun to utilize.

The combat/game play sure. Everything else I've heard & seen/played myself says the rest of it is a downgrade. The emblems especially are awkward & don't have great interactions with more than a few people each, & the writing & characters are so off-putting along with toothpaste-chan that if it's one or the other, people should always play Three Houses

That's because the original plan was for have Engage come out in 2020 to commemorate 30 years of Fire Emblem games. It ended up getting delayed, for obvious reasons, to early 2023.

Also, Zelkov is the best.

I'm not a FE junkie as I only played all the ones since Awakening and BB. Engage is the only 1 I actually just dropped. Played 3 houses 3 times.
