However I doubt people are even familiar enough with the Crow outside the first movie. There have been twelve people brought back by the crow in the comics. It looks like this movie is trying to remake the first film which is the wrong choice. There is no reason to make the this character Eric Draven, not when there is so much more material. So yes it is pointless because the people making this movie didn't look at the rest of the huge franchise they have at hand and are just remaking the first movie.
