If cashiers can't sit down then all the executives and CEOs of these companies that pull this crap should have to stand too. Of course that won't happen. Nobody within reason is going to think a cashier is lazy because they're sitting. It's just sociopathic capitalist thinking.

Maybe if Dollar General acted more like Aldi their stores wouldn't be so shitty.

I worked checkout at Target when I was young and the only people I ever saw who were allowed to sit at their lanes was the very pregnant woman and another kid about my age who broke his leg or foot or whatever.

As a customer I couldn't give less of a fuck if the person at the cash register is sitting down. Holy shit let people have a modicum of comfort in their workplace.

Funny to think that the military base i used to work at is less strict in this case. I worked support on a flightline for about a year. We oversaw all the tools/testers. Checking them in and out to maintainers (scanning barcodes involved) and ensuring none are lost on the flightline cuz they'd be a fod hazard. Plus some other duties but they dont relate to a retail cash register position that much, i think.

Anyway we were allowed to sit through majority of the shift. I used to play oldschool runescape on my phone for like half of an 8 hour shift tbh lol.. or read manga on my phone. Our repeat "customers" or maintainers within the amxs are probably more civil than the average customer too (well tbf there are punishments they'd want to avoid lol). Honestly this job is probably easier than retail as long as you don't fuck up.

Oh and supply is probably even more of a retail job than what I did. Ive been to their warehouse when picking up parts as a maintainer and saw them chilling and sitting. Yes this is a far better example than mine imo.

I'm very surprised that retail is this strict. I believe the workers should be allowed to sit. It doesn't make sense to me why they can't. Wtf. This actually pisses me off a little bit tbh just thinking about it.

It's simple. People think sitting down means they're not working or not working hard enough.

"Then go work at Aldi where the pay is better and they let you sit sometimes and you're overall treated more like a human being. They also have much better reviews from customers and you can feel good about your job and stuff. You'll come crawling back to Dollar General."
