Chicago gets 17 year cicadas this spring but in a rare event which has not occurred for 221 years 13 year cicadas will emerge in Southern states and southern Illinois.

I remember I was a junior in high school last time they came out. We were playing tennis in gym class spending the whole period swatting them away with tennis rackets.
