I find it interesting that the US has a Mature for 17+ and Australia and New Zealand have one that anyone can buy.

But Australia and New Zealand straight up ban certain games that doesn't fit in that wheelhouse.

The ESRB can ban games also, they just say it is adults only and the games are censored to ribbons.

Technically, Adults Only isn't a ban. It's just that stores refuse to stock those games, as well as all three major console manufacturers blocking any AO games from being released on their platforms.

So, it's an effective ban, not a technical one.

True, but AO games not named Hatred or Thrill Kill are usually just loaded with anime boobs.

Australia has actually banned some huge AAA games because they were refused classification. That rarely happens in North America. Only exception I can think of is Manhunt, and that was only in the US, while us crazy Canadians got it uncensored day one.
