The new interface is far less intuitive and is missing features that the old interface had. Also, certain things from the old interface, such as Group Affiliations, Custom text, and Group Favorites--will not transfer over to the new interface when they star forcing all Groups to convert starting on the 25th of this month. Pretty much everyone in the comments are saying how bad of an idea this is, but of course, DA isn't going to listen to the masses actually using the site.

Not sure why I expected less from the people who forced the also-buggy Eclipse "upgrade" on everyone, and also do nothing about art thieves while making their own AI program using people's submitted pictures on the site (initially forced without permission before the outcry made them turn it off by default).

Will we still be able to search "(Your Name) the Hedgehog?"

Is the search feature still completely fucked up? I remember it was broken since like 2020. You used to be able to search multiple tags at once but it broke and can only search one, which usually has thousands of stuff you might not care about.
Also, did they stop with that weird mass banning?

I'm not sure about the Search (I only usually search one tag or term at a time), but I haven't really heard anything about any more mass bans since last fall.

Yes, you can filter out AI pics in your settings, but this also requires the uploaders of said AI pics to flag them as such, and a number of them don't do that.

That site should have died years ago

yeah theyre not going to continue supporting old layout and new layout indefinitely

It's not that they're updating the website. It's that the new interface is missing features that the old one had. For example, the new group interface for some reason has no support for Favorites or Affiliates, so when the groups are migrated over, all Group Favorites and Affiliate Groups will be erased. I don't understand how they didn't even include those with the new Group interface out of the gate.

Sounds like they were given ample warning per your link

software features arent just added and removed willy nilly. You have no idea what the behind the scenes reasons for any changes are

Maybe not, but there is still the reasonable expectation that an upgrade that's supposed to be better than what came before it should still maintain most if not all of what the previous iteration had.

And it really doesn't matter how much of a warning users had if there's currently no solution for the lost features or no word on if/when they will be added back with the new interface.

Something as ubiquitous as a Favorites page on an art website, a feature that the old Groups interface has had for well over a decade and one that all user profiles themselves have?

I think he's referring to the bad quality of the art but personally I think there's a charm to amateur art.

Same can be said for Pokemon games and Nintendo yet you're very open to complaining about that regarding them. Is this just because you don't use Deviantart so you want to spite their users? And some people do pay for Deviantart.

very dumb comparison tbh

anyway I'm a developer myself so I know that the process of rolling out an overhaul of a site/application isn't always just to keep adding features. sometimes things get cut, and it's very frustrating to have to support multiple versions of the same thing

How is it a dumb comparison? Really just sounds like you're a self-absorbed hypocrite who's angry at devs that personally impact your enjoyment so you relate on the consumer end while you have no bones to pick with devs on things you don't personally use so you relate on the corporate end.
Your anecdote there is something that can obviously apply to the recent Pokemon games/Nintendo as well and indeed are the same exact arguments used by their most loyal fans to defend them.

Dexit, less polish, simplified level design etc. Everything you've posted ITT can apply to all the complaints you've made about the devs of things you have gripes with.

Unable to actually retort? I'm just going to say this and whether you'll actually self-reflect or just brush it off as you knowing better is up to you but I've definitely noticed you becoming quite a bit more self-serving and conservative as you've gotten older.
